Purrl the Feline Dog…

Posted by carolom on February 1, 2008

Someone has to tell her….

Because she just doesn’t listen…

Day in and day out she just wants to play fetch with the tennis ball…and not let you have once she has pounced it of course.

Purrl creates new feline fashion…

Posted by carolom on November 8, 2007

I came home today and Purrl~the~wonder~Girl cat was peering at me in what looked to be a body suit for burns victims.

Seems she had spent the morning enlarging a small hole in the shade cloth to burka size and spent the rest of the day asleep with her head through the hole…

Love the part where the hole is a bit too small for her head so she has a half Siamese look…..;-)

‘Don’t tell me that we are higher than the Animals’….

Posted by carolom on May 4, 2007

I was born anthropomorphic…it wasn’t until I came across the word that I realised that was ‘what I had’ as a child and that was what separated me from most other people.
I just knew and could feel the emotions of fear and terror when a sheep truck passed loaded with woolly-souls heading to the abbattoirs….and when the Mother cows mooed and moaned when the ‘poddy’ calves were taken away…I understood that they were expereincing grief and heartache equal to that which humans experience.

“Too sensitive” I was often told…what a challenge that sensitivity was for so many years…what a Gift it became over time…..

It was very difficult to be anthropomorphic in my younger years….some days it still is…

I wrote the following poem quite some time ago when, on reflection, I was still outraged by the injustice inflicted on the animal kingdom and the total- nonconnection so much of the world seems to have for our furry, feathery, fin and scale Brothers and Sisters.

I probably would not write such an indignant defender-of-the-animal-kingdom-poem these days…I am more at peace with the outrageous injustices across all of the kingdoms as time has passed …but I still have a fondness for this piece because I remember the day I wrote it and the deep and heartfelt connection I experienced with all of the little souls in there at the Urumbirra Wild life Sanctuary…

‘DON’T TELL ME THAT WE ARE HIGHER THAN THE ANIMALS…’

When I see Mother Koala snoozing in the tree and clutch her baby as he stirs in his sleep…
Don’t tell me that we are higher than the animals!
And when the Big Red Kangaroo rises to his full height and
blinks with long lashed eyes that survey each member of his tribe
Don’t tell me that we are higher than the Animals!

When the Dingo puppies frolic and roll and tumble
Whilst their Mother eyes me suspiciously and
nudges them back to their home made cave…
Don’t tell me that we are higher than the Animals!

And don’t use terms like Pig in a way that intends to offend
Because I have witnessed their cleanly ways and
I have delighted in the way they roll and
grunt in ecstasy in the company of their own kin

And don’t say “you fat cow” in an insulting way when I have seen
a Mother Cow calling out to her calf whilst running behind the farmers ute
as he took her Baby away.
I saw the pain and the fear and the grief in the Mother and Babies eyes
Until she was left standing…staring
as the ute disappeared down a dusty track
Her baby calling out to her in terror
and She responded with a deep and mournful cry

When I see the Red-Bellied black snake glide protectively over her young
I know that her nurturing is as equally important as our own.
Because She is serpent do we assume that She is
cold blooded and without feeling?

When I see Bilyara the Wedge Tail Eagle stand flightless
with shattered wing
Is his pain any less than yours or mine?
And that he will never ever again be King of the Sky
Doesn’t that pierce his heart and make his Soul cry?

Don’t tell me that we fly higher than the Animals!

When the Pelicans waddle and their fluffy off-spring follow
Is their day any less important than yours or mine?
When Rocky the Poodle (in his hand knitted winter coat)
runs circles around his owner, yapping with delight
Is his Love inferior to yours or mine?
Indeed His Love propels him to perform a dance of delight
Never taking his eyes from the elderly woman he adores.

When Minerva my Cat sends me a soundless image
that tells me she is being held hostage by Libby the Dog
Isn’t Her imagery more powerful than mine?

When I see a flock of sparrows gather around one of their babies
who has been skittled by a car
Is their chittering and nudging and fluttering and flittering
any less significant than a death to you or I?

When I see a Chimpanzee interned in a cramped cage in Bangkok
being subjected to the inane mimicry of tourists who prod him and call him names
Am I imagining the dull sheen of tears that long ago sealed over his eyes?

Don’t tell me that we are higher evolved than the Primates!

When Alice Walker speaks of Christmas as a time of the ritual killing
of sappling trees and the bludgeoning of Turkeys,
slaughtering of Lambs and
butchering of Pigs…
A time of gluttony and gorging and greed…
Is she wrong?
Are we truly deserving of the Sacred task we have
to Honour Mother Earth and ALL Her Children
Those who fly, walk, swim, crawl and climb!

Don’t tell me… Don’t try to convince me
That we are higher than the Animals!

Statue Comes to Life!!

Posted by carolom on April 2, 2007

I was given a cute little statue of three groovy cats a few years ago and it has sat on top of my fridge ever since.

As you can see the calico, marmalade and black and white cats are all set for a day in the sun.

Well something very strange happened last year when two little kittens appeared in my back yard…brother and sister they were remarkably similar to two of the Fridge Cats.
Well as they say in the stories…By and by…within a month a THIRD cat appeared, abandoned by the chaotic family who moved out without him……a black and white cat…who I called Billy (after William Shakespeare – Billy purred like a poet).

I was able to find him a home because fluffy purring Shakespearean cats are in high demand during non-kitten season…
The other two, Gabrielle and Raphael – Gabi and Ralphy….come and go in the yard.

As you can see by their photos….my statue came to life with amazing replication!….. and true to the Law of Attraction my warm feelings for cats combined with my statue that imprinted the images in my subconscious mind every time I opened the fridge…resulted in my statue coming to life with in a meeowsy-furry-purry way!

Phoenix Purrl

Posted by carolom on March 13, 2007

I am developing a 12 piece Mandala series for an Art Exhibition “Talking in Circles”….

Like Connections we are all One (click here) the current current painting has golden orbs…which are sunflowers, created by fire-flames of turmoil and chaos…the garden grown on the compost of days now past…
I was inspired to do this piece after running a group for Women living in a domestic violence shelter and hearing their stories of having lost their homes, had their dreams and hearts…and sometimes teeth broken….but are now developing the skills, belief in Self and courage to create their new life, free of violence and old patterns.
Learning to develop their Mind!!…….Yes!

I had the Phoenix painting-in-progress on the floor earlier this evening….getting ready to paint some more….and I left the room for just a second…and upon my return….look who I found sitting in the flames, warming her bottom!……;)

Purrl the Wonder Gurrl Cat!

Purrl arrived in my life only a couple of months ago, a homeless stray who gave birth to 4 gorgeous kittens two weeks ago…so I guess that having known homelessness, single parenting and hunger, she is well qualified to sit in the Phoenix fire and claim her brand new, purrrrfect life….

Don’t you love her little face?

Dad’s 70th Birthday….Sing Along with Ken…

Posted by carolom on February 11, 2007

Our Dad, Ken was gifted with a wonderful voice and in our growing years he was a popular singer at the local working mans club.
In his earlier life he had jet black curly hair and whilst Tom Jones still had his original nose, people often said he looked and sounded like Tom Jones…

Over the years Dad stopped singing except around the house…so I decided that for his 70th Birthday today, the 11th of February…. it woud be great to have a “Sing along with Ken” session….

We all loved hearing Dad sing when we were kids and have vivid memories of Mum and Dad dressed for their night at the Club, very much the hip-couple in their groovy outfits and matching good looks. Old Spice after shave and Taft Harispray and Hypnotique perfume hovered in the house long after they had left for their once a week time out and time together time with the other couples at the Club…

We are not a large family…so I made everyone a song-booklet to accompany the “Sing Along with Ken” compilation …

Dad was very surprised when he opened his present……
Mum was very pleased with the outcome of our Secret conversations with her list of Dads favourites…

It didn’t take long before we were all singing along to Moon river, I Walk the Line….and quite a few more that my niece and nephew had never heard of….

Sal, my beloved, came out with a baritone voice I had not heard before…
Sister Chris in the foreground almost got away with not having her photo taken…

And Sister Jacqui really put heart and Soul into her rendition of Moon River…

Sam…the much loved Samoyd~Border Collie decided he would join in with the singing and he did a very good job indeed even though he didn’t have his own song book!

In September our parents, Ken and Maureen celebrate 50 Golden Years of marriage……they met when they were 17 .

Tennessee Ernie Fords “Give me your word” was ‘their” song…
We sang it today of course….

It is a blessing that we are all fit and well …and can finally sing the same tune …together….

What a Magical day we had…and true to the teachings on the Law of Attraction, when we clearly state our desire with the feeling of Love and Joy and put ACTION to that desire…we will create the perfect situation every time!

That is Practical Magic in ACTION!

When things just simply do not fit anymore…

Posted by carolom on February 11, 2007

Purrl is a beautiful little Black cat who, like ALL black cats is a very good manifester.
She is able to stare at the back of my head and make me turn around and read her Thoughts of “Feed me…Now!”
She can awaken people in the night when the Moon is full and she just has to go out and do Cat Things at 3 a.m.

Purrl is such a good manifester that she turned up at my home out of the blue in the arms of a long-ago partner who insisted she strayed into his workplace to be with me!

Purrl, for all of her skilled ways with both Mind Mastery and the Law of Psychic-Control has not learnt one of the fundamental lessons of Mastering the Law of Attraction….

You can clearly see this area-needing-development by the following photo:

You see the Law of Attraction requires us to release that which no longer fits in our life in order to allow for the LARGER things to appear!

Non-negotiable…letting go of the old to clear the space for the new is Metaphysical Mathematics 101!

Whilst Purrl remains her little-kitten Self in her mind, she will forever be squashing growth and sleeping with one foot out the door…..

Cats are really not so different from humans after all!

You can learn a bit more about how very similar we are here: “She is not ugly…she’s scared….”

Libby the Wonder Dog

Posted by carolom on January 8, 2007

I wrote this piece in the months leading up to my dog Libby’s passing in 2005.

I dedicate it to all of us who have known the love of a furry Angel who comes to this Earth with one purpose….to share their Love with their beloved Human….

Libby The Wonder Dog

Have you ever bent down to place a bowl of doggy-dinner in front of your beloved furry friend and suddenly noticed how old she has become since last spring………only a few short months ago?

Have you ever looked into her adoring eyes only to see her return her gaze through a cloudy film that dulls the loving twinkle…
…A rolling in mist that you have never ever noticed before?

Have you ever strolled down the pet food aisle,
…past the Puppy section…brimming with roly-poly pictures of Labrador babies, breathing puppy breath you can almost smell…

…past the Active Dog Section …alive with pictures of flying canine-adolescents chasing invisible sticks
… pictures like the ones in your photo album from just a few short years ago…

…then arriving at the Seniors Section for “Less active Dogs”….
…and realising in that moment that it was a heart burstingly brief journey from one section of the aisle to its opposite end…

Have you ever sat reading and suddenly felt compelled to go outside …summonsed by your Beloved Furry Friends silent lonely call?

…to be rewarded with laughter and delight as joy spins her uncontrollably into a twirling dirvish of ecstacy…

and all because you have suddenly appeared …granting the ultimate wish of her devoted-doggy heart.

Her belief in the Magic of Manifestation unwavering , not fickled by tides of high and low….

Have you ever noticed quite suddenly that you’ve been calling her “Old Girl” …. for quite some time …even though her puppy photo is still stuck to the side of the fridge…

hmmm…it seems to be aging and yellowed…I hadn’t noticed that before…

Have you ever been patting and rubbing her coat and suddenly felt how dry the skin has become with time, …how that living breathing organ of fur seems more itchy and scratchy than ever before …..and you know that the vet would say to give her another shot of that stuff ….that relieves the itch but demands another price on her organs and blood …each shot needing to be stronger than the one
before…..

Can I put her through those cortizone blasts again…she got so sick that last time ….
Diet
Herbs
Healing
Hygiene
Medicines

Nothing has ever worked for any length of time….

Have you ever sat down at your computer to try and capture just the slightest tiniest piece .. ..of a Love that transcends the Kingdoms of fur and skin and two legs or four… …and felt the tears sting and cloud your eyes… because you know you are coming to the end of your
Beloved furry Friends Story …that she may not be with you for another Spring……..and in the telling of a small part of her life
story the Heart releases bitter-sweet tears of sadness and joy …

A short life

A Tail of moments spent in the presence of a wingless Angel wearing Coat and Tails

So you step away from the page and outside into the cool evening air…and notice yet again that she seems stiffer than ever before…

Her old bones crack…as she rises to greet you … her tail wags with ageless gusto …and you entice her with her old rubber ball

Her eyes light up…………mist suddenly gone
as the ageless ball-game passion warms muscles stiff with age
….and we are Magically transported back, through the aisles of time

As the Old Girl embodies the delight of playing “Fetch”…
We are granted a brief reprieve in the hour glass …. of her very most absolutely most Favourite Game

Have you ever noticed that, …even though you can no longer say, “She would chase the ball all day if you kept throwing it for her”…that her world is more alive when she is in the company of
Love
Activity and
Play…….

Libby
~My gorgeous little furry friend
~Daughter of tragically ferocious guard dog
…A beautiful Daughter, whose life has never really been free of the high anxiety of growing in a vicous womb

~Totally devoted
~Highly strung and emotional (leaving her tied up outside of the store could result in a puddle of tears from her bladder)
~Infinitely loyal
~Fierce protector
Libby
~Butterfly and March-fly stalker (she has never caught one yet…despite hundreds of hours staring fixedly at the moving shadows)

Libby

My gorgeous and loving Friend….

Have you ever noticed how excruciatingly short life can be when we speak of love and other indefinable things….

…..In the beginning I used to wonder why I went from a 12 year
loving partnership with peaceful,old-Soul, woolly Old English Sheep dog to a highly strung, german shephard cross bred who began her first few months in a leg cast from losing a play fight with
a cattle dog who mirrored her rough-play-mixed-with
gaurd dog ways…

And 11 years later it is all so clear.

She came to teach me that Love can never be defined by who or what has gone before…there is no mold to define how Love shapes our life…. because Love IS the mold….

Thank you Libby-loo……I Love you. XXXX

Libby loved to bury her bones in the cold ashes of the fire circle…
